“Time waits for no man”, and we’re usually late to realize the depth of these words. Time is the one thing we want the most but unfortunately use the worst. We contemplate “life decisions” knowing the times running on the clock and we end up using even more time stressing out after. Being a victim of this behavior, I asked myself, “What can I do?” So here are 3 ways to manage your time wisely.
1. Don’t think about it.
Procrastination is a universal defect experienced by many almost every day. And most of you reading are wondering how can you NOT procrastinate, and the answer is, simple. Inspired by Nike’s motto, just do it. From personal experience, the moment I start overthinking or more like questioning what I was exactly doing at that moment, it delays the deadlines I have fixed for myself and disrupts the whole process. And eventually, I’ll have to complete it tomorrow.
2. Look at time in 15-minute intervals
One effective way of finishing tasks and getting soo much done in a short period of time is looking at time in 15-minute intervals. Doing so will push you to complete tasks more than if you were looking at time in one-hour intervals. For instance, if I had planned to start reading at 3:00 pm and it was 3:30 already, instead of starting at 4:00 I’ll begin at 3:45 which allows me to get more done. Many of us fall guilty in this category and applying an achievable change such as changing your perspective on time will help you feel more accomplished throughout your day.
3. Set your priorities
Sit down and think of all things you want to do for the day. By doing so, you’ll have a clear view of how your day will go. Adhering to this habit offers you the opportunity to highlight the things you’d like to focus on for the day. It will also help you achieve things in an organized and timely manner. Setting your priorities is individualized, thus, take some time and try learning about the things you’d love to do.
The importance of time management and its effectiveness goes above and beyond, thus, incorporating these tiny changes in our daily life can result in drastic improvements in the way we achieve the things we want to do and the time it takes to achieve them. I’d like to end here with this quote, “Your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow”.
